I WANT A STATEMENT BED!

I love my bed. It's a good bed. It's the bed that we purchased when we were first married. It's the bed that my children have all slept in at some point or other. It's the bed that they still creep into at night-time if they manage to catch me at a weak moment (I'm getting increasingly better at shooing them away - even when I'm still half asleep) And, well, you see...I just want a grown up bed now. I think I'm ready.

I want a bed made for silk nighties and romantic novels...

I want a bed that I can eat chocolate and sip champagne on...

I want a bed that justifies wearing my drawer full of pretty underwear...

Maybe something glamorous, with a pop of colour...

Perhaps slightly French looking...

Or something dramatic that looks good with crisp white sheets...

Definitely something that "Daphne" would look good lounging on.

And above all, something where decade old stripy pyjama pants (mine) and 3 sticky fingered kids (also mine) are definitely not allowed...

I WANT A STATEMENT BED! Watch this space...

  1. Hi Mrs Sutton,

Here's hoping you find your *perfect* bed! It makes a huge difference. I'm so inlove with our bed. One downside is that I have to tear myself away in the morning - never an easy job!!

  2. OHHHHH!! I LOVE them all....if I had to choose one I think it would have to be...bed No 4 (but not in yellow) or Bed No 2 (but not in gold) or the last one (just as it comes)....VERY difficult!!!! Can't wait to see what will be your Statement Bed....:) (ahhhh, and LOVE the picture of the lovely nighties and the chocolates etc...:))

Love from rainy Suffolk (actually, this is the sort of weather when going to bed with a steaming cup of hot chocolate in the middle of the afternoon would be the thing to do....if only...!)

  3. What you need is an "all-in-one-bed".
I can not decide what is the best of all you show us.
I wish you a lot of fun! N.

  6. An outsider's observation ~ you may want a new bed, but the old bed has definitely made a statement: family, love, home. Well done.

  7. Oh la la! I love them all, with a particular soft spot for the second photo. For the bed ,but also for the chocolate and champagne drinking! I'm such a gourmande!!:)
As you know this is also my new project.......I have the wallpaper , quite similar to photo 2 for my statement wall. Now where to get the statement bed?.......such a big decision really.
Oh and I love susy 's comment she is so right!!

  8. Dear Mrs. Sutton, I know that it says much more about me than it does about you but I do not want a statement bed. I shall of course, be very happy for you when you have found and installed your statement bed but for me I really just need something comfortable to sleep on. After too many decades of the antique brass, complete with china ornamentation and iron springs, it is time for a bed without a statement, particularly the statement I make each time I sleep on it....." why do I not have a comfortable bed!!"

  11. GoodMorning Mrs Sutton!!! :)

So pleased to hear that my recipe is appealing!!! And it really really is SO easy! And with this one you are not looking for pretty - which makes it even easier, I find!! Good luck - would love to hear how it turned out!

:) Slept like a log last night....I am not even sure if it rained...if it did, and if we did have the thunder & lighting I am annoyed! I DO love it to!!!!! Had to smile about your over-crowded bed...sounds ever so cozy!!!!!!

Have a lovely day - almost the weekend -hope you have some nice things planned!!!

    Love

    Nicola x

p.s. About the herbs in the bread -I gave the ingredients for the original recipe - but have in the past used whatever is around (but have always insisted on the spring onion!)

  20. I'd just love a hug kind-sized bed with lots of pillow and a huge fluffy duvet that I could get lost in. Although if I did getting up in the morning would be even harder than it always is.

  25. Lovely, lovely images! However, the most wonderful bed in the world would be the Snore-Free bed. Whoever invents a bed that automatically detects the presence of one Snoring Husband & immediately silences him will be an instant Billionaire!!
